Meet the Neck Rejuvenation Team

This site is led and medically reviewed by Tongchun Mao, MD, who performs facial and neck surgery here and who is responsible for the medical content. The other three physicians contribute what a neck assessment often needs: the center’s surgical standards and its experience of revision, the assessment of skin quality and of what non-surgical treatment can honestly change, and the dermatologic assessment of a neck whose skin is affected by sun damage or by a condition rather than by age alone.

Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Neck and jawline assessment · skin, platysma and fat told apart · facial and neck surgery

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon at Chongqing West District Hospital, where he is Deputy Director and Head of Aesthetic Surgery in its Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and the responsible physician for this site. He personally performs more than 700 operations a year, within hospital standards of assessment, anaesthesia and follow-up.

On this site his part is the examination that names the tissue. He pinches and releases the skin to see how much recoil is left, examines the platysma at rest and on activation, and places the fat relative to the muscle, because the three produce a similar complaint and are answered by different treatments. He examines the glands and the front of the neck as part of the same assessment, and where a finding needs investigating he routes it before any cosmetic plan is discussed.

Clinical focus

  • Neck assessment: skin, platysma banding and fat told apart
  • The shifting mix with age, and why the plan changes with it
  • Rejuvenation of the neck and jawline, including muscle repositioning
  • Fat under the chin, assessed against the skin and the muscle
  • Assessment of a neck after a previous procedure has not settled

The mix decides the operation

Skin, platysma and fat produce a similar appearance and are corrected in different ways. A lift that removes skin does not remove a band, and relaxing a band does not tighten a covering that drapes. Naming which tissue dominates is most of the decision, and it is made by examination rather than by looking in a mirror.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Center leadership · surgical standards and complex revision

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team he provides the surgical perspective and the tertiary-hospital backstop — the assessment when an operation is the honest answer, and the hospital-level care for the rare complication that needs it.

Within this site his part is the standard any operation has to meet and the backstop behind it, including the assessment of a neck that has been operated on before and has not settled as expected.

Clinical focus

  • Center leadership and multidisciplinary case review
  • Surgical assessment when an operation is the honest answer to descent or excess skin
  • Hospital-based care for the rare complication that needs theatre-level management
Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Skin and laser aesthetics · skin quality and the neck surface

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director and head of skin and laser aesthetics within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team her role is the device and injectable assessment, and the honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle.

Within this site her part is the quality of the skin itself: what energy-based and injected treatments can and cannot improve, the honest expectation for each, and the preparation and scar care that surround any operation on a neck.

Clinical focus

  • Device and injectable assessment before any treatment plan
  • Staged planning judged against standardised photographs
  • Honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · skin disease and lesions of the neck

Dr. Yongbo Jia is a dermatologist within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is medical skin assessment — diagnosing and managing pigment and barrier conditions, and treating skin that a device or an injection has irritated.

Within this site his part is the neck that is not simply ageing: the inflammatory and pigment conditions, the sun damage that accelerates laxity, and the assessment of a lesion or rash that is changing rather than static.

Clinical focus

  • Medical skin assessment behind injectable treatment plans
  • Diagnosis and management of pigment and barrier conditions
  • Dermatologic care of skin after irritation or a delayed reaction
